How it works
Bidexia is the online saleroom of Lumsden Auctions. Every lot is its own auction with its own closing time, and new lots open every day. Here is the whole journey, from signing up to taking your lot home.
1. Create your account
Registration is free and no card is needed. We ask for your name, email address, phone number and a password of at least 8 characters.
To keep fake bidders out, we send a 6-digit code to your email address. Enter it within 10 minutes to confirm your account. Later, when you sign in from a new device, we send you a fresh code. If you tick "Remember this device for 30 days", that device will not be asked again for 30 days.
2. Find a lot
Browse by category, search, or filter for lots you can Buy now. Each lot page shows:
- photographs and a description, including a condition grade: New, Unused, Used, Heavily used or For parts
- the current bid and the minimum you can bid next
- the closing time and a live countdown
- whether the lot has a reserve, and whether it has been met
- how the lot is handed over.
Descriptions are written by our team from the item in front of them, sometimes with the help of software, and always checked by a person. Unless a description says an item has been tested, treat it as untested.
3. Bid
Enter an amount at or above the minimum shown and press Place bid. Bids go up in steps (increments) that depend on the price. The lot page always tells you the next minimum.
Your bid is a binding offer. If it is the highest bid when the lot closes, and any reserve is met, you have bought the lot at that price.
Proxy bidding
Don't want to watch the clock? Set a maximum instead. We bid for you, one step at a time, only as far as needed to keep you in the lead, and never above your maximum. Nobody else can see your maximum.
Bidding is anonymous
Other people see every bid as coming from an anonymous "Bidder". Your name is never shown. You can see whether you are leading on the lot page and under My auctions.
No last-second sniping
If a bid arrives in the last 2 minutes, the closing time moves back by 2 minutes. This repeats for as long as bidding continues, so the lot closes only when nobody wants to go higher.
Made a mistake?
You can withdraw a bid yourself if all of the following are true:
- it is no more than 3 minutes since you placed it
- you are still the highest bidder
- there are more than 10 minutes left before the lot closes
- you have not already withdrawn a bid on that lot
The Withdraw this bid button appears under the bid form only while all of these hold. In any other case, contact us straight away and we will look at it, but we cannot promise to cancel a bid.
4. Reserve prices
Some sellers set a confidential minimum price, the reserve. The lot page shows "Reserve met" or "Reserve not yet met", but never the amount.
If bidding ends below the reserve, the lot is not sold. The seller may then send the highest bidder an offer by email to buy the lot, usually valid for 48 hours. You are free to accept or ignore it.
5. Buy now
Some lots have a Buy now price. You can take the lot at that price straight away, which ends the auction. We ask you to confirm first, because the purchase is binding.
Buy now disappears once bidding has started: at the first bid, or on a lot with a reserve, once the reserve is met.
6. You won. What now?
We email you as soon as the lot closes, with a link to checkout. Please pay within 3 days.
What you pay: the winning bid, nothing more. There is no buyer's premium and no IVA on the lot.
How you can pay:
- Cash or Credit card when you collect. We accept cash for amounts under €1,000, in line with the Spanish rules on cash payments (Ley 7/2012).
- Bank transfer. Use the details shown at checkout and quote your order number as the reference. We release the lot once the money has arrived, usually the next working day.
Online card payment is coming soon. We will announce it on the site.
Your documents:
- a pro forma by email when you check out. It is a request for payment, not a tax invoice.
- a receipt (recibo) when your payment is recorded
7. Collect your lot
For now, all lots are collected in person from:
Lumsden Auctions, Calle Los Nazarios 11B, Polígono Los Nazarios, 03179 Formentera del Segura (Alicante) or Lumsden Auctions Warehouse, Av. de los Álamos, 24, 03170 Rojales, Alicante
Opening hours for collection: 10.00 - 15.00
Please collect within 5 days of the lot closing. Bring your order number. If someone is collecting for you, send us their name first.
Delivery to your door, to lockers and to Correos offices is on its way. We will announce it on the site.
8. Who you are buying from
Every lot on Bidexia is sold on behalf of a private individual. Lumsden Auctions acts as the seller's agent: your contract of sale is with the owner, and we run the auction, take the payment and hand the lot over.
Because the seller is not a business, consumer protection law does not apply to the sale. That includes the 14-day right of withdrawal and the legal guarantee. You are still protected if a lot is not as described. See Help & support → Returns, withdrawal and guarantees.
9. Don't miss a lot
- Watchlist. Follow a lot and we email you about an hour before it closes, unless you are already leading.
- Saved searches. Save up to 20 searches and get one email digest of new matching lots, at most once an hour.
